Tim Tadder is a California commercial photographer, director, and creative consultant with over two decades of work at the intersection of sport, portraiture, and visual storytelling. His clients include Nike, Adidas, Gatorade, Amazon, Peloton, Coca-Cola, Mercedes-Benz, the NFL, and the NBA campaigns that run on billboards, broadcast, and global media buys.
Tadder has photographed some of the most recognized athletes and public figures of his generation: Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Stephen Curry, Simone Biles, Michael Phelps, LeBron James, Bad Bunny, Kendall Jenner, and George W. Bush, among more than thirty others. His work is defined by dramatic lighting, saturated color, and an ability to capture genuine human energy on set — the moment behind the moment.
Based out of Encinitas, California, Tadder earned his BA in Mathematics and his MA in Visual Communications from Ohio University. He was named 2019 Stars of Design Photographer of the Year, has been recognized by Lürzer's Archive as a Top 200 Photographer for over eight consecutive years, and has appeared multiple times in the Communication Arts Photography Annual. He is a founding member of Adobe's Creative Collective, launched in 2026.
His commercial work spans sports photography, advertising photography, celebrity portraiture, CGI integration, and AI-assisted production a pipeline he has developed and deployed on major brand campaigns. He works across still photography and motion, directing both.
In fine art, Tadder is exclusively represented by Avant Gallery in New York, Miami, and Dubai. His work — including the series Nothing to See, United States of Purple, and Black is a Color — uses bald subjects to strip away race, gender, and identity, creating portraits that ask viewers to see the human form without the filters society places on it. His 2012 project Water Wigs went globally viral, appearing in Time Magazine and reaching number one on Reddit.
He describes his practice simply: an artist who solves visual problems for brands while creating visual examinations of the political realm to inspire generations.
